By: Christelle MarambaArt can be expressed through different mediums. On July 16, Biskeg - Pangasinan Artist Collective showcased Pak Ganern! Art Exhibit at the Liongoren Gallery located at the Tapuac District, Dagupan City. Pak Ganern! contained various forms of art like Paintings and Drawings, Slam Poetry, Open Mic and Live bands.
According to the head of Biskeg - Pangasinan Artist Collective and the organizer of the event, Mr. Patrick Fernandez, Pak Ganern! was an exhibit themed to the effects of Social media and Social media addiction, hence the name of the event. The Exhibit was a collective effort of 30 artists from different places in Pangasinan and also from other groups of artists. Also according to Mr. Fernandez, this is not the first time they’ve done this kind of event in Dagupan City, in fact, last year they have a different exhibit every month at Liongoren Gallery. Pak Ganern! is their comeback exhibit at the gallery since this is their first for this year. Lastly, Mr. Fernandez also claimed that these exhibits will always be free as they want to reach out to the masses, and although the artists spend a lot with these events, just seeing the appreciation of other people for their work is payment enough. Biskeg is not doing this kind of event just for fun, they have an advocacy, which is to raise awareness to people on how they view “arts” here in Pangasinan, they want to change the perspective and way of thinking that people have nowadays when it comes to arts.
