Mother Teresa is a catholic nun, also known for her love for people most especially the poor and persons with ailments. She won Nobel Peace Price on 1979 and named as the living saint. It is also expected that people from different places will come to Saint Peter Square at Vatican on the day of canonization of Mother Teresa. Before Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997, she visited the Philippines three times on 1977, 1978 and 1984.

By: Denise Go 10-year-old innocent little girl named Victoria Martens, was brutally murdered on Wednesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico . Three suspects arrested, including her own mother.
Victoria Martens turned 10 years old on Tuesday and she just started fourth grade in Albuquerque elementary school. Family and friends will always remember Victoria Martens by her sweet smile. According to the Albuquerque Police, they’ve identified three suspects. One was Victoria's own mother, Michelle Martens, the boyfriend of Michelle, Fabian Gonzales, and the cousin of Gonzales, Jessica Kelley. When officers arrived, they saw two persons with minor injuries and another person attempting to escape by jumping off a balcony. The apartment was filled with smoke and officers discovered the body of Victoria partially wrapped in a burning blanket inside a bathtub. Based on the report, Victoria was already dead and her left leg was almost completely cut off and both of her arms were also missing. Martens told the police that Victoria was given methamphetamine and that Gonzales raped and choked her daughter to death. On the other hand, Gonzales denied the accusations, saying that it was Kelley, who stabbed and dismembered Victoria. It was found that Martens apparently had a traffic citation in the past and both Kelley and Gonzales have tons of criminal records. Martens was charged on Thursday with kidnapping and child abuse resulting in death while Gonzales faces the same charges including child rape. Kelly was hospitalized due to a foot injury and appeared in court on Saturday. The three of them were all held with $1 million bond. By: Denise Go On Sunday, local media reported that Singapore confirmed 41 positive cases of locally transmitted Zika virus. 36 of them were foreign construction workers employed at a site in Aljunied, southeast of the island. Authorities examined 124 individuals and most of them are construction workers. The result shows that 78 were negative, 41 were positive and five others cases are still under observation. A 47-year-old Malaysian woman who is currently working in the Aljunied area was the first case of locally transmitted Zika virus in Singapore, this was confirmed on Saturday, by the health ministry. The woman had not traveled to any places with Zika virus so she must have likely to have been infected in Singapore. National Environment Agency (NEA) deployed 100 officers to start the "vector control” operations in the said area to control the mosquito population. Their operation includes misting, thermal fogging, public education outreach about the virus and distribution of insect repellent. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Zika can also cause Guillain Barre, a rare neurological syndrome that causes temporary paralysis in adults. Zika virus is quite similar to dengue and Chikungunya, which causes fever, redness of the eyes and rashes. Until now, there's still no treatment or vaccine for Zika virus. Gotho came from Sragen Central, Java. According to the date of birth on his identity card, he was born on December 31, 1870, making him the oldest person alive that contends the current record of Jeanne Calment, a French women who died at the age of 122 in August 1997. Due to his old age, he is not able to take care of himself and needs to be spoon-fed and bathed. In an interview, he quoted that the secret to long life is ‘patience’. He also added that what he wants now is to die. In fact, he has been preparing for his death since 1992, he even bought a burial site for himself over 24 years ago, said by one of his relatives. The closest relatives he lives with are his grandchildren, great grand children and great-great grand children. All his four wives, children and 10 siblings are long dead. The Indonesian records office has reportedly confirmed his birth date. His document’s independent verification is the only thing that keeps him from earning the title of the world’s oldest person. By: Angelica UyA Filipino fisherman found a 34-kilogram (kg) pearl in the waters of Palawan, Philippines and kept it under his bed for ten years as a lucky charm without knowing its worth.
According to his aunt, Cynthia Amurao, who was also a local tourism department chief, her husband's nephew found the said pearl ten years ago inside a giant clam that got stuck on his anchor as he waited for the storm at sea to calm down. With his consent, the luminous pearl, which measures 30 centimeters wide (1 foot) and 67 centimeters long (2.2 feet), was later taken and displayed at the city hall of Puerto Princesa, the province's capital. The local authorities believe that the recovered pearl might be the largest pearl in the world, overtaking the current record of the Pearl of Lao-Tzu also known as the "Pearl of Allah", that was also found in Palawan in the 1930's which weighed 6.4kg. The municipal officials of Puerto Princesa are still hoping and waiting for the confirmation of the specialists if the new found pearl is indeed the world's largest pearl. Smart who is 18 years, seven months and 21 days old, has set the new world record as the youngest pilot who completed a 45,000 kilometers trip that took almost two months and two-and-a-half years of planning. He began his trip on July 4 and landed at Sunshine Coast Airport at Marcoola on Saturday, August 27. His 54-day journey flying with Cirrus SR22 aircraft took him to 24 locations in 15 countries. Though he experienced some difficulty and issues while on the journey, "it was nothing I couldn't overcome", he said. For people who dares to take on a big challenge, "Don't be afraid to dream big and when you have goal for it", he added. As of now, he is planning to get home, rest on his bed and catch up with his family and friends. According to the authorities, hundreds of residents were rescued from their houses near the Di-Ammonia Phosphate (DAP) plant in Port City wherein a 500-tonne ammonia tank exploded on August 22. District chief administrator, Mesbah Uddin, said that 56 people were confined in Chittagong Medical College Hospital after the gas leak. Overnight, the firefighters stopped the gas leak and declared the next morning that everything is under control and, as of this time, there are no known fatalities caused by the explosion. According to the initial information of ACTS-OFW Party-list Rep. John Bertiz, it was around 9 in the morning (Saudi Time) and the victims were resting at home when the incident happened. Twenty-seven bodies have already been identified and the rescuers ended the search operations because they think that all the victims are already found. Deputy Chief District Officer BhimKanta Sharma said that the injured people were airlifted to Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, 70 kilometers away from the incident, assisted by an army team. According to the authorities, the bus fell more than 300 meters down the hill and overcrowding of the bus can be the possible cause of the accident.
