By: Angelica Uy PNP Mapandan launches DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program for elementary students on Saturday, September 17.
Every Tuesday, the two trained personnel of Mapandan PNP, PO3 Topol Calaunan and PO2 Rafael Mayugba are conducting lectures about the awareness in smoking, alcohol and drugs. The scheduled time is from 7:30 in the morning up to 4 o’clock in the afternoon, depending on the availability of the school. They make sure to give a 1-hour time per class and teach two lessons each week out of 17 desired lessons. Further, they also give worksheets and show some visual aids to evoke and educate the children on the possible effects and danger of such vices. DARE program will continue until they are able to lecture all the public and private elementary schools in Mapandan. As of now, their program is still on the process of teaching the students of Mapandan Central School.
