By: Denise Go Balon Dagupan Children’s Choir (BDCC) conquered the stage as they won the 2016 Malaysian International Children's Choral Festival last Saturday, July 16 at the Royal Theater in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. BDCC won the highest award in the completion which is the Shah Alam Mayor’s Award. The group also received two other awards, the Gold Grade A Award and the Most Promising Overseas Choir with their rendition of the pieces “Orde-E” and “O Sanctissima” which were led by their conductors Adolfo Mendoza and Virginia Mendoza. The team defeated other groups coming from different Asian countries such as India, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia. BDCC was organized by the City Mayor Belen Fernandez in the year 2015 and the group is composed of 22 members aged 9 to 13 years old, who are all students coming from both private and public schools in Dagupan City.
