Christelle MarambaReading novels nowadays are uncommon, with book prices being high and the onslaught of the Internet and mobile applications, we found other ways of entertaining ourselves. However, there are still those few book nerds still going strong and the Book industry is not exactly going down.
So now, I bring to you my Five YA Novel Recommendations. Five young adult books that, although I’m almost done with my teenage years, make me still love the genre. (Warning: These are not recent books) 5. The Selection Series by Kiera Cass If you’re looking for an easy read romance with a twist, this could be the one you are looking for. This book tells the story of America Singer, a 17 year old girl in a dystopian world of Illea, chosen to be a part of The Selection, a royal event wherein the crowned prince will choose a bride from 17 different girls. The story is good, character development is good, but what will draw you in is the imagery created by the author through her words. 4. Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi Another dystopian story. Shatter me follows the story of Juliette Ferrars, a girl with a deadly touch and the government army wanting to use her abilities. Although some may say this has a cliché plotline, just read a chapter or two and it will hook you right in and you would just want to binge read it. The storytelling is so vivid, albeit a tad melancholy. 3. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff This is a book for sci-fi lovers. Set in outer space, this is a story about two teenagers caught up in a war and not knowing whothe real enemy is. This book is bloody brilliant! The way the story was told was very imaginative and unconventional. Read and be amazed. 2. The Fault in our Stars I doubt that a lot of you wouldn’t know this book, and if you don’t, I recommend that you read it. Immediately. This book was once my favorite of all time because it made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me crazy with hunting it down because it was always sold out. This is the kind of book that makes you want to buy two copies at once because you know that the first one will get tattered with how often you’ll read it. 1. All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven My favorite YA book, as of yet. I haven’t read anything recently that makes me want to reconsider my favorite. This book is everything, it’s a story about Theodore Finch and Violet Markey and how they saw the world. This book will change how you see and feel about the things around you. This is a really great read.
