Thanatophobia, may also be called Death Anxiety, is the feeling of dread or anxiety or apprehension when an individual thinks of the process of “dying” or just ceasing to “be” or “exist”. This kind of fear is common in the elderly, but is also now manifesting itself with the young because of what is happening in our society. According to Sigmund Freud, the fear of death is not exactly the fear of dying itself, because we have never tried dying, but more of the fact that we are still in conflict with the things we want to do with our life or the things we haven’t been able to do. We simply fear losing time to do what we want or that we still have some unresolved conflicts in life. In some cases, those people who have thanatophobia are more prone to actually losing precious time because they are busy overthinking their fear. Now, if you believe that you might have this phobia, here are some simple ways that could help you overcome it.
