Feature and Photo by Nicole ArzadonSt. James the Great Parish was built in the year 1609. In 2008, the celebration of his 400th year-anniversary as a parish was launched. A year later, on the 7th of May 2009 the church was wrecked by the typhoon Emong, and repairs and major renovation were made to restore the grandness of his historical edifice. Today, after 407 years we can still see the old church providing a glimpse of colourful history, making it an inevitable integral part of the beauty of Bolinao. During the months of July and December, Evangelization is religiously conducted in every barangay and sitio. The Evangelization Holy Mass is celebrated and the Evangelization parish speakers’ bureau is organized. The celebration of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi is their way of expressing their spiritual union with the community, with emphasis on the Eucharist as the ultimate source of their Christian Faith. Inspired by all these blessings, they have thought of writing, and eventually publishing a book entitled, “AWA NG DIYOS SA BAYAN NG BOLINAO SA PAMAMAGITAN NI SENOR SANTIAGO” to feature particular testimonies on the miracles of St. James the Great.
